Marcos Rivas: HHMI SURF

Marco is part of the famous Miami-Dade College - University of Miami Bridge Scholars program funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He is a CS student. He loves math. Did I mention he really loves math? In the fall of this year he is going to Emory to finish his CS degree. Since I am an Emory alumni, this makes me super happy.
He is using network control theory and random walkers to identify control nodes in an inherited peripheral nerve disease, CMT2E. Very challenging and interesting stuff. This is in collaboration with Jessica Medina, Mario Saporta, Stephan Zuchner, Stefan Wuchty and Prajawal Devkota and that superstar Matt Danzi.
